Detailed Safari Itinerary: 12 Days Rwanda National Parks Safari

Day#1: Arrival in Kigali - Your Adventure Begins
As you step off your international flight at Kanombe or Kigali Airport, our company representative will warmly welcome you. A brief introduction to your upcoming Rwanda Safari awaits you, followed by a transfer to your designated accommodation. Settle in and enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at your chosen lodging, which could be Step Town Motel, Hotel Chezlando, Kigali Serena, Golf Hills Residence, or Milles Collines.

Day#2: Journey to Volcanoes National Park
After a delightful breakfast in Kigali, your journey takes you to the renowned Volcanoes National Park. Here, you'll prepare for an exciting gorilla adventure deep within the forest. With more than 360 mountain gorillas residing in the park, this is your chance to witness these remarkable creatures up close. Spend the night at Gorilla Nest Lodge, Mountains Gorilla View Lodge, Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, or Kinigi Guest House.

Day#3: The Thrill of Mountain Gorilla Trekking
Begin your day with an early breakfast, then head to the Park headquarters for a briefing and Gorilla Group distribution. Your trek through the forest begins, as you search for the elusive mountain gorillas. Rwanda and Bwindi, Uganda, are the only places in Africa where these gorillas can be found. Remember to bring water for the trek, which can vary in duration depending on gorilla movement. You'll have an unforgettable hour with the gorillas, capturing photos and videos. Afterwards, return to your lodge, and perhaps explore the twin lakes or take a short self-guided walk around Kinigi.

Day#4: Golden Monkey Trekking and Lake Kivu
The day starts with breakfast followed by a trek to spot the rare golden monkeys and other primate species. Post-trek, you'll travel to Lake Kivu, the largest freshwater lake in Rwanda. Enjoy refreshments and lunch before embarking on a scenic 2-4 hour lake cruise. The views of Kibuye, Gisenyi towns, and the Nyiragongo Volcano in Congo are simply breathtaking. Day#5: Journey to Butare and Cultural Exploration

Day#6: Nyungwe Forest's Colobus Monkey Trek
Set out early to Nyungwe Forest National Park, home to diverse primate species. Embark on the Colobus Monkey tracking activity and encounter black and white colobus monkeys, variegated monkeys, and more. Spend the night at Gisakura Guest House, Nyungwe Forest Lodge, or Nyungwe Hotel.

Day#7: Chimpanzee Tracking and Forest Exploration
An early start takes you to chimpanzee tracking, where you'll discover man's closest relatives. Day#8: Return to Kigali
After breakfast, embark on a forest walk before journeying back to Kigali. On the way, stop at Butare's Botanical Gardens for a refreshing pause. Spend your final night in Kigali at Step Town Motel, Hotel Chez Lando, or another preferred accommodation.

Day#9: Venture into Akagera National Park
A hearty breakfast sets the tone for a transfer to Akagera National Park, Rwanda's sole wildlife park. Upon arrival, indulge in lunch at Akagera Game Lodge. An evening game drive offers the chance to spot elephants, antelopes, giraffes, and more. Retreat to Akagera Game Lodge for dinner and rest.

Day#10: Morning Game Drive and Lake Ihema Boat Ride
Early risers are rewarded with a sunrise game drive, spotting the park's early-morning inhabitants. The second game drive is an opportunity to encounter Masai giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, and more. After lunch, a relaxing boat cruise on Lake Ihema offers encounters with crocodiles, hippos, and unique bird species. Return to Akagera Game Lodge for the night.
