Day 1: Kigali-Akagera National Park
Today after your breakfast from your hotel of residence, meet our guide and after transfer to Akagera National Park in the East of Rwanda bordering Tanzania. As you enter take an evening game drive and look out for some big five and other animal species like the Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffe, warthogs, waterbucks, bushbucks, oribi, hear beets among others respectively. Dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge. Meal plan: Half-Board
Day 3: Akagera-Ruhengeri
Take another amazing morning game drive, have breakfast, and then drive to Ruhengeri. With our lunch en-route, take visit different communities and learn more about Rwanda’s culture and style of living. Learn how to produce Alcoholic drinks from sorghum and bananas, make handcrafts from locally produced materials. Learn how to make a traditional local dish. After all these experiences proceed to Ruhengeri for dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge, Kinigi Guest House, or Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge. Meal plan: Full-Board
Day 5: Golden monkey trekking
After breakfast at the Lodge, you will go for Golden Monkey trekking within the Volcanoes National Park. These Golden Monkeys are the most endangered primates in the forest. This activity will not take long like as it is when tracking the Gorillas You will spend also less time with these primates. Return to your lodge for lunch after which you will either relax at the lodge or take a short community tour to the nearby towns and villages. Return to the lodge for Dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Full-Board
Day 2: Game drive and a boat ride on Lake Ihema
Dawn game drive in Akagera national park in search of some of the big five and other wild animals and birds like lions, elephants, buffalos, giraffe, hyenas, waterbucks, bushbucks, oribi, warthogs, hartebeest, and different bird species. Return to the lodge for refreshment, breakfast, and lunch, and afternoon prepares for a canoe ride on Lake Ihema and here you will spot aquatic wildlife like hippos, crocodiles, and much more birds and animals along the shores of the lake. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Full-Board
Day 4: Gorilla trekking experience
After our breakfast prepare for a briefing from park officials and after entering into the jungle to search for the shy mountain endangered gorillas. Requirements like walkable shoes, hut, insect repellent, sunscreen, rain gears, packed lunch and bottled water are must and other tools that one may need once in the tropical rain forest. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Full-Board.
Day 6: Volcanoes-Nyungwe
After breakfast at your lodge, drive to Kigali city for lunch, and after head to Nyungwe forest National Park. Have en-route visit the old King’s Palace in Nyanza. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge or Gisakura guest house. Meal plan: Full-Board
Day 7: Chimpanzee trekking experience
After breakfast prepares for a briefing from park officials and then go for chimpanzee trekking. This experience does expose you to a variety of wildlife species that this forest offers such as the L’Hoest’s monkey and the grey-cheeked mangabeys are often sighted. The birds are spectacular, though as in most tropical forests, you’ll have to look hard for them. Giant hornbills, great blue turacos, and red-breasted sparrow hawks are amongst the specials, of which 24 are endemic to this section of the Rift Valley. Return to the lodge for lunch and after take an evening walk around the Tea plantation. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe forest lodge or Gisakura guest house. Meal plan: Full-Board
Day 9: Nyungwe-Kigali
After breakfast return to Kigali for a city tour to local markets, shopping souvenirs, or board your home flight. End of services, Meal plan: Half-Board
The safari includes Airport transfers. Transportation by safari truck. En-route lunches. Accommodation and meals as per itinerary. Gorilla and Chimp permits, one per person to be booked in advance. Golden monkey trekking. Nature walks. Driver allowances. The safari excludes: The expenses of personal nature like Airfare, Visa, drinks, laundry, tips to local guides, telephone, porter fee while trekking, personal insurance, personal shopping bills, and cigarettes.
