  • Day #2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park Rwanda.

After breakfast, your tour guide will pick you up from your lodging for the transfer to the national park headquarters. Arriving at the park headquarters in Kinigi, you’ll have a short briefing on the regulations of Gorilla trekking in Rwanda from the park warden. By 8:30 am, you’ll be at the start point of trekking with a park guide. A total of 8 tourists are allocated to a single gorilla family. Make sure you have your gorilla permit (USD1500) on you at the time of trekking.

The 8 individuals take about 2-3 hours in the forest trekking through the bamboo forest with armed rangers and a guide. However, only 60 minutes (1 Hour) is spent in the presence of the gorillas. The trek has an unpredictable time based on the Gorilla family movements. But due to the population of gorillas and the size of the park, it is known that they move short distances making them easy to trek. After the 1 hour in the presence of the gorilla family, you’ll head back to the park headquarters where you’ll meet the tour guide for the drive back to your hotel. In the evening, you’ll have a chance to choose from either visiting the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo or taking a community walk.
